A high-voltage fight between the legendary Mike Tyson and emerging boxer Jake Paul recently broke the internet. Nearly 72,300 fans attended the boxing match at the AT&T Stadium in Texas on November 15. Paul ended up winning the fight via unanimous decision but Tyson won hearts with his passion and resilience at the age of 58. The match featured a few ring girls who also gained much popularity, sharing the stage with Tyson and Paul. One of them was a 20-year-old model, Sydney Thomas. The University of Alabama student was enthralled to see how she became an overnight sensation on social media following her recent appearance in the boxing match.
Thomas dropped a few glimpses of the glittery night on Instagram where she was captured performing the responsibilities of a ring girl. She appeared to be overwhelmed by the support she received online after featuring in the Tyson vs Paul fight in Texas.
“Getting the opportunity to step into the ring with Mike Tyson and Jake Paul for such a historic fight is something I never imagined I’d be able to say. Words can’t describe this moment or how grateful I am to be part of such an amazing team. History was made, and I’m truly honoured to have been a part of it,” Thomas wrote in her Instagram post.
Thomas also reportedly shared a TikTok video with the caption: “Waking up to see I’m trending for the Tyson vs Paul fight.” She was captured saying, “I’m happy that you guys enjoyed the broadcast,” as per The Times of India.
Netflix had streamed the highly anticipated boxing match live. As claimed by the OTT platform, over 60 million viewers tuned in to watch Tyson and Paul in action. A massive profit was also gained through ticket sales, with the overall amount estimated to be around 17.8 million dollars.
Apart from Sydney Thomas, Raphaela Milagres, Virginia Sanhouse, Delia Sylvain and Lexi Williams also featured in the big-ticket fight as the ring girls. The victory over Mike Tyson marks a big moment in Jake Pual’s boxing career. The results have gone into the official records as the Texas boxing officials decided ahead of the match.
It was the first professional fight for Tyson after a long hiatus of 19 years. During his heyday, the legendary boxer won the World Heavyweight Championship three times and defended it on 19 occasions. He was also the youngest ever to secure the title at the age of 20.
