Taiwan’s Foreign Ministry wrote on X, "We strongly condemn China’s joint military exercise near Taiwan. We urge Beijing to stop destabilizing the status quo and Indo-Pacific peace through careless behavior."
The exercise took place after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth returning from his visit to Japan, Philippines and Taiwan. Taiwan’s leading newspaper Taipei Times quoted an officer as saying, "Taiwan is his best excuse. This is the reason that he decided to start such military exercises as soon as the US Defense Minister left Asia."
China also confirmed that it is practicing the United Army, Navy and rocket around Taiwan. Beijing even called Taiwan President Lai Ching-Te ‘parasite’.
