Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams have finally returned to Earth after months of staying in space.

NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore have safely returned to Earth after an unexpected nine-month stay in space. Originally planned as an eight-day mission, technical issues prolonged their time aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their long-awaited return has sparked joy across the internet, and Butch Wilmore’s daughter, Daryn Wilmore, has also shared an update on her father’s homecoming.
Taking to her TikTok handle, Daryn said, “Hi everyone, welcome to the very final installment of my dad is stuck in space because he’s not anymore!” further adding that the astronaut is actually coming back for real, as she has been consistently posting updates from her father’s mission.
In her video, Daryn noted that the family has planned to celebrate his return in a simple and intimate manner by possibly heading to her uncle’s home for a small get-together with close friends. “I’m making him his favourite dessert, which is pecan pie,” she shared.
Daryn Wilmore also added that she had prepared an entire list of Wilmore’s favourite things and stuff they used to do together, as she plans to check them off before heading back to college.
Elsewhere in the video, Daryn revealed that her father will be going for a lot of tests, noting that he is “still technically part of the experiment of human space flight” and needs time to adjust to Earth after spending so much time in space. “I’m so proud of my dad, and I love him so much. Hollywood, I think a movie should happen,” she concluded as per People.
Previously in another video, Daryn opened up about her father’s delayed stay on the ISS, blaming “politics” for it. She shared how she misses hugging her father and added, “He’s missed out on a lot. It’s less the fact that he’s up there sometimes; it’s more the fact of why. There’s a lot of politics, there’s a lot of things that I’m not at liberty to say that I don’t know fully about. But there’s been issues, there’s been negligence,” as per the New York Post.
Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams embarked on their journey to the ISS in June last year. Initially planned as a short 10-day mission, their stay was extended for months due to troubleshooting challenges and technical issues. After multiple delays, the astronauts finally returned to Earth, safely splashing down off the coast of Florida.
