A Texas man, whose $59 million wedding went viral in 2023, is now facing a significant legal battle. As per WFAA, 30-year-old Jacob LaGrone’s trial date is set for mid-November this year, when he will face three charges of assault on a public official, each of which is a first-degree felony.
The allegations are related to an incident that occurred in March 2023 in Westworth Village, Texas, where Jacob LaGrone allegedly shot police officers, according to city officials.
Police officers from the Westworth Village and Westover Hills departments were allegedly fired upon while they were responding to a call, according to court filings.
Jacob LaGrone is accused in the indictment of “intentionally and knowingly” threatening cops with physical harm and carrying a gun during the assault. Officers C. Munoz of Westworth Village Police Department and C Wilson and J Dunlap of Westover Hills Police Department are particularly named as the victims.
Jacob LaGrone went to a motion hearing at the Tarrant County courtroom in November 2023. According to reports, LaGrone was dressed in a blue suit and black shoes. He walked away from reporters while his bodyguard forcibly blocked the camera, but he said nothing.
November 14 is when Jacob LaGrone’s trial is scheduled to start. He might be sentenced to five to 99 years in jail, with the possibility of life in prison if found guilty. He was apparently given a 25-year plea deal by the Tarrant County District Attorney in 2023, but it is still unknown if he will take any deal before trial.

Because of the event’s enormous scope, social media users dubbed it “the wedding of the century.”
