Bangladesh Crime News: People have got angry after the incident of rape with an eight -year -old girl in Bangladesh. People across the country protested on the streets on Sunday (9 March 2025). He demanded strict steps to prevent violence against women and children. According to the report, this tragic incident occurred on Wednesday when the girl went to her elder sister’s house in Magura. The sister’s father -in -law committed this crime.

Girl admitted to ICU

According to the report of Bangladesh’s leading newspaper The Daily Star, the girl suffered serious injuries and was first admitted to the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, after which she was transferred to CMH Hospital for more care. According to the police, the sister’s husband allegedly cooperated in the crime. He told that the rapist’s wife and elder son also knew about the incident and later he also tried to kill the girl to hide it.

Rally organized in Dhaka to protest against the incident

The victim’s sister’s father -in -law, husband, mother -in -law and brother -in -law were accused and the police have arrested them. In protest against this incident, teachers and students of Dhaka University took out a protest rally in the campus on Sunday. The demonstration organized by the University Teachers Network started at 11:00 am under the prestigious Aparajio Bangla statue and the rally started at 11:45 am.

Hundreds of students of the Rajshahi University boycotted their classes and examinations, the Dhaka-Rajasthani highway was blocked for about half an hour. The students demanded quick action and stringent punishment for criminals of sexual violence to ensure the safety of women.

Demand for death penalty for accused

Protests also took place at the Islamic University (IU) at Kushteya. The students blocked the Khulna-Kushtia highway near the main gate of the university. According to the report of the country’s leading daily The Dhaka Tribune, the demonstration took place in the afternoon after the protest march started from the Botatola region of the university. The students demanded death penalty for the accused of such heinous crimes.

Increased violence against women in Bangladesh

Meanwhile, Save the Children, an organization working actively for child protection in Bangladesh for the last five decades, condemned the Magura incident. Save the Children in a statement highlighted the worrying figures, stating that 2,362 women and girls have faced violence this year, including 1,036 children.

Shumon Sengupta, Country Director of Save the Children in Bangladesh, stressed the need for systemic reforms. He said, “We demand justice for the victim of this terrible crime. Officials should ensure that the criminals are prosecuted immediately. There are about 40 percent of the victims of violence, so immediate improvements are necessary for their, especially for their safety of young girls.”

Mohammadu Younus -led Interim Government -led Home Affairs Advisor Lt Gen (Retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chaudhary assured that the government is committed to ensure that the accused are punished. He insisted that those responsible for such heinous crimes will not be allowed to avoid accountability.
