Goodbye Vistara! Today the airline is flying its last flight, will merge with Air India on 12th November


Vistara-Air India Merger Update: The country’s first premium airline Vistara is flying for the last time on Monday, November 11, 2024. Vistara will merge with Air India on Tuesday 12th November. In the year 2013, Tata Group again entered the aviation sector by making a joint venture with Singapore Airlines and on 9 January 2015, Vistara had its first flight between Delhi and Mumbai.

Merger to challenge Indigo!

With this merger, Air India will become the country’s first full service carrier and Air India’s market share on international routes will more than double from 50 percent to 54 percent. Air India already dominates international routes with a market share of 27 percent. Currently the market leader of India’s aviation sector is IndiGo but Air India is strengthening itself with the merger of Vistara to challenge IndiGo. After the merger of Vistara with Air India, its total fleet number will increase from 144 to 214 aircraft. Air India’s low cost carrier Air India Express has 90 aircraft and the company has ordered 470 new aircraft from Boeing and Airbus, the delivery of which will start soon.

6.5 crore passengers flew in Vistara

Vistara, which is flying for the last time under this brand name on November 11, flies to more than 50 destinations including Indian and international routes, of which Vistara has direct flights to 12 countries. The company has 70 aircraft. Since 2015, more than 6.5 crore air passengers have flown on Vistara.

Passengers will get comprehensive services

Even after the merger of Vistara with Air India, the name of Vistara airline will not end. The airline will continue to operate under the same name. But, its code will change. The code of Vistara airline will be as per Air India. AI 2 will be used as prefix in Vistara’s flight code. Tickets of 2.5 lakh customers of Vistara have been transferred to Air India. Passengers will be provided with the same services provided by Vistara which includes in-flight cutlery menu. Air India has assured that apart from changing the name of Vistara, everything will remain the same as before. All products and offers will be available as before. All routes and timings will also be the same. Apart from this, the flight experience and crew will also be from Vistara.

Loyalty member program will be merged into Maharaja Club

After the merger of Air India and Vistara, the new airline will provide services on 90 domestic and international routes. It will also reach around 800 destinations through codeshare and interline partners. Club Vistara customers will be linked to the Air India Flying Returns programme. They will be transferred to Maharaja Club.
