An Indian techie in Toronto tested Canada’s bitterly cold winter with a novel experiment: the frozen Maggi challenge. To test what would happen to a steaming dish of freshly cooked noodles in such harsh conditions, she stepped out on her balcony as the temperature dropped to a freezing -17°C. The shocking results have gone viral, promoting a slew of reactions.

The intriguing experiment was shared on Instagram by the techie, who is also a social media influencer. “It’s minus 17 today. I’m taking the time for this because it’s fun. Let’s see if it works,” she said while setting the bowl on a table with care before opening the window. With each passing second, the impact of the cold weather became more noticeable. In a few minutes, the noodles had frozen in mid-motion and solidified into a block when the techie lifted the bowl.

Previously immersed in the bowl, the fork was now immobile and suspended in midair. “I never thought it actually will work,” she captioned her video, expressing her astonishment at the result.

The video was shared on February 24 and has collected over 16.9 million views so far. Social media users were amazed by the captivating visual and some were amused by the stark difference between India and Canada’s Maggi culture. In addition, many users shared their challenges of living in extreme cold weather conditions.

“This is insane! I’ve never seen food freeze like this,” a user amazed by nature’s power wrote.

A user humorously said, “This is the only time Maggi is taking more than two minutes to be ready!”

Another commented, “Forget boiling water, now we need a heater to eat Maggi in Canada.”

“No way! This looks straight out of a sci-fi movie,” another user who was in disbelief, stated.

One individual humorously suggested, “Now try eating it without breaking your teeth!”

While several users were amused by the challenge, others brought up the realities of surviving in harsh conditions. “Winter in Canada is not for the weak,” a user stated, summarising the difficulties of enduring extreme cold weather.
