In urban living, traffic is inevitable; millions of people are impacted every day by clogged roads and lengthy commutes. However, certain cities have it worse than others and are famous for having a lot of traffic, which often causes pollution, delays, and frustration. The fact that a woman described how she overcame the frustration of being caught in traffic in Bengaluru is noteworthy. She put out a post on X (formerly Twitter) stating that she had started reading.

“Every morning, I’d waste energy getting mad at Bengaluru traffic from Indiranagar to HSR- the potholes, Anna missing every damn shortcut and ofc G-Maps gaslighting us. Now, I just read something new instead,” the user on X wrote.

The X user further explained how her mood is elevated after reading in the morning. Because of reading, the user states that she arrives at work happier, smarter, and slightly less vengeful. “Mood = 100x better. Arrive at work happier, smarter, and slightly less vengeful,” the user added. She also included a picture of herself reading in an auto.

Shared on February 20, the post has racked up over 97,000 views. Many social media users agreed with the user, while others questioned how she could deal with all the noise.

A user said, “People with motion sickness can’t relate.” To which she replied, “So true bestie, but somehow, I get motion sickness only in cars. It’s funnily selective.”

Another commented, “Bengaluru traffic helps me read a minimum of 3 books in a month!”

“Welcome to the club, been doing that for some time now, not the preferred way of reading, but it is what it is,” a user wrote on X.

“I used to do this in Delhi. Travelling for 4 hours or more every day in DMRC was no less than a nightmare. I even used to read books, listen to podcasts or write something. It was the most productive part of my day,” an individual remarked.

On the other hand, a few users asked how she could concentrate with all the noise. “But how can you concentrate with loud honking and rash driving,” a person on X said.

Bengaluru was listed as one of the most congested cities in Asia by the TomTom Traffic Index 2023. According to the index, it takes drivers 28 minutes and 10 seconds on average to cover 10 kilometres. The index reportedly polled 387 cities in 55 different nations.
