One such influencer, Revant Himatsingka, recently opened up about the challenges he faced initially after opening his Instagram channel “Food Pharmer”. In one of his recent posts, Revant shed light on his journey from quitting a well-paying job in the US to returning to India to expose food companies doing “false marketing”.
“I’ve said no to hundreds of food brands which have offered me huge amounts of money to promote them. I’ve obviously said no to junk food promotions, but I’ve even said no to all clean food brands asking me to promote them in order to remain 100% unbiased,” he shared on Instagram.
Revant further revealed that he struggled financially in the “first 14 months” after quitting his US job, which paid him “Rs 2 crore per annum”. “My savings dried up and my legal costs increased. So I started doing a few non-food promotions. But I continued to say no to all food promotions, even though 95% of the deals I get are food-related,” he added.
The content creator may be living a “comfortable life” now but remains bothered about the impact of his channel. He also lacks the manpower and the money he requires to go forward with the future plans.
“Everything requires money and a team. But I have no mentor and a team of only 2 people. I have worked every day since April 2023 without any breaks. I make videos on mental health but my own mental health is not the best,” Revant mentioned.
The influencer expressed his desire to do lab tests for every product he would review, hire experts for toothpaste and shampoos, and have a team of senior lawyers to fight the court cases against him.
“I don’t want any donations. I only want your genuine thoughts. As we enter the next phase of Food Pharmer, I’m excited to have you share your voice. From now on, I will be putting up many Instagram stories with polls to help decide the Food Pharmer 2.0 journey,” Revant explained in the caption of his post. As his channel continues to grow, Revant currently has more than 2.7 million followers on Instagram.
