A Pakistani content creator, a doctor by profession, has come under criticism for posting a video criticising China. Known as Fani on Instagram, he shared his unpleasant experience upon arriving in China and claiming that it smelled terrible, adding he felt nauseous.

Describing China as having an “unbearable smell,” he noted that the issue was not unique only to this country and shared similar experiences in European countries.

“Why does China smell so bad?” Fani posted on X and shared a video. In the clip, Fani alleges that the first time he flew to China from Dubai, he was greeted with a bad smell. He claimed that it only increased with time and as he travelled into the country.

The video prompted widespread uproar on social media, with many users describing it as disrespectful. Many also praised China for its hygiene standards and cleanliness. A person wrote, “China is hygienic and very clean and even people are so clean how you got bad smell. I too have gone to China but never faced anything like this in any places here. It’s so clean and beautiful.”

Another said, “I have been living in China for many years, but I never faced the problem of bad smell. Chinese people have good hygiene. I think you smelled your own smell, that’s why.”

“Basically, it is a giant falsehood. I’ve been living in China for two years now, but I’ve never smelled that odour. They’re well-educated, nice, and clean, and I’ve never witnessed,” read another comment.

“Bro, don’t bad mouth any country; it’s not that we are taught to do. Let Westerners do that; they are good at this. Respect the country which you are in and which gave you the opportunity to travel it,” another wrote.

Fani has over 23,000 YouTube subscribers and around 400 Instagram followers. According to his profile, the content creator holds an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) degree.
