A content creator has sparked a contentious discussion over food safety by posting a video that purportedly shows unsanitary conditions at ‘Amritsar Haveli’ restaurant in Hyderabad. After being posted on Instagram, the video has gone viral and incited viewers’ fury. The restaurant is allegedly reusing leftover onions and chutney from one table to another, according to the video, which raises severe questions regarding food safety and hygiene.

The video opens with a shot of the restaurant’s dishwashing area, which shows a waterlogged setting with a staff member cleaning dishes. Before questioning restaurant employees about the alleged reuse of discarded food items, the content creator highlights the area’s ‘horrific’ condition.

The man can be seen in the video asking a waiter why unused bits of chutney and onions are being mixed with leftovers. “Yeh onion use kiya hai, dusre table par nahi jaayega (These onions have already been used and will not be moved to another table),” the waiter initially says in response to the accusations.

But after persistently demanding clarification, the man finally confronts the restaurant manager, who acknowledges that vinegar onions are reused.

The content creator remarks that the contradicting assertions have angered and frustrated him. “Aapka khud ka version bhi badal diya” (You have changed your version),” he added. The tense argument is further heightened by his demands to view the dustbin where leftover onions are apparently being disposed of.

“At the Hyderabad branch of ‘Amritsar Haveli,’ corners are being cut in ways that no one should tolerate: reusing chutneys and onions from one table to another and a washing area in horrific condition,” the video was captioned. The post also included a disclaimer. The disclaimer highlighted that the post’s content was intended to increase awareness of food safety procedures and was based on observations made at the time of filming.

“This post does not intend to defame, harm, or misrepresent any individual, brand, or organization. Viewers are encouraged to verify facts independently and exercise their discretion,” the post added.

Shared on January 14, the video has garnered over 4.5 lakh views. Outrage erupted in the comments section as soon as the video became viral. Numerous individuals expressed their annoyance and shock at the alleged actions.

A user wrote, “We are fools… We eat outside food, but we end up eating such horrible food and even pay for it.”

Another said, “FSSAI is a big joke in India.”

“No wonder the world hates us. We are the dirtiest nation on earth, no concern for hygiene, only profit,” a user commented.
