NDA’s report card in front of UPA, employment in the country has increased by 36 percent in the last 10 years to 64.33 crores.

Employment Rate: Union Labor Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said today that employment in the country has increased by 36 percent in the last 10 years to 64.33 crore in 2023-24. Whereas in 2014-15 it stood at Rs 47.15 crore. This shows the improvement in the employment situation during the tenure of the NDA government, whereas under the UPA government, between 2004 and 2014, employment had seen an increase of only about seven percent. This figure is special amidst the pressure on the government regarding employment opportunities in the country.

About 4.6 crore jobs were created in the country in the last one year.

Mansukh Mandaviya said that during the UPA government, only 2.9 crore additional jobs were created between 2004 and 2014, whereas under the Narendra Modi government, 17.19 crore jobs were added between 2014-24. In just the last one year i.e. 2023-24, about 4.6 crore jobs have been created in the country.

Regarding the agriculture sector, Mansukh Mandaviya said that during the UPA tenure, employment declined by 16 percent between 2004 and 2014, whereas under the NDA tenure, it increased by 19 percent between 2014 and 2023. Similarly, during the UPA tenure, employment in the manufacturing sector increased by only six percent between 2004 and 2014, whereas during the NDA tenure, it increased by 15 percent between 2014-2023.

He said that during the UPA tenure, employment in the service sector increased by 25 percent between 2004 and 2014, whereas during the Modi tenure, it has seen an increase of 36 percent between 2014 to 2023.

Unemployment rate came down to 3.2 percent

Mandaviya also said that the unemployment rate will come down to 3.2 percent in 2023-24 which was six percent in 2017-18. At the same time, the employment rate i.e. working population ratio increased to 58.2 percent in 2023-24, which was 46.8 percent in 2017-18. Similarly, the labor force participation rate (LFPR) increased to 60.1 percent in 2023-24, which was 49.8 percent in 2017-18.

In the last seven years i.e. between September 2017-September 2024, more than 4.7 crore youth (age 18-28 years) have joined the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Regarding the increase in the number of youth joining jobs in the organized sector, it was also said that the EPFO ​​data is related to the interests of the employees.
