
CRSS Annual Security Report 2024: Pakistan, which harbors terrorism, is itself shaken by terrorist attacks in 2024. According to the annual report of the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), 2024 proved to be the deadliest for Pakistani security forces and the highest number of deaths were recorded in a decade. Till December 31, 2024, there were 44 terrorist attacks in Pakistan and at least 685 security personnel lost their lives.
The deaths recorded this year were the highest in the last 9 years and were 66 percent more than in 2023. According to the report, on an average about 7 people died every day. The month of November 2024 proved to be the most dangerous compared to other months on all parameters. The biggest loss due to violence occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 1616 people died. Balochistan was at second place, where 782 people died.
So many people lost their lives due to violence in Pakistan
The CRSS report shows that in 2024, there were 2546 deaths related to violence inside Pakistan while 2267 civilians, security personnel and criminals were injured. These deaths occurred in 1166 terrorist attacks and anti-terrorist operations, which tells about the security situation in Pakistan.
Compared to last year, these figures show that violence has increased by more than 66 percent, more than 55 percent people have been injured and about 49 percent more incidents have occurred. In comparison to the total deaths across the country, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces remained at the forefront. 94 percent of the total deaths and 89 percent of the total incidents occurred in these two provinces.
2024 is the most dangerous in the last 9 years
The deaths in 2024 were the highest in the last 9 years. Earlier in 2015, a total of 4 thousand 366 deaths were recorded, then in 2016, 2 thousand 432 deaths. This year, 934 criminals were killed but the deaths of civilians and security personnel were much more, which is 1612. If seen, there is a loss of more than 73 percent compared to the criminals. This can be gauged from the fact that there were 909 terrorist attacks in response to which only 257 security operations were conducted.
