South Korea Plane Crash: A Jeju Air plane carrying 181 people met with an accident on Sunday (29 December 2024) at Muan International Airport in South Korea. Before the arrival of the New Year, the month of December 2024 has been no less than a shock for the airlines. So far this month (29 December 2024), there have been 6 major plane accidents, in which a total of 234 people died. In such a situation, questions are now being raised regarding safety protocols and technical problems in the aviation sector.

179 people died in the plane crash at Muan International in South Korea, while two people were pulled out alive from the debris by security personnel. The gear of this plane returning from Bangkok did not open at the time of landing, due to which it slipped from the runway and collided with the concrete fence. After hitting the fence, a big ball of fire came out of the plane, due to which the plane turned into a pile of ashes. 32 fire engines and helicopters were brought to the spot for rescue operations. Why the landing gear did not open is under investigation.

The first fatal accident in Jeju Air’s history. Earlier in 2007, a Bombardier Q400 flight operated by Jeju Air went off the runway at South Busan-Gimhae Airport due to strong winds. There were 74 people on board this flight and one passenger was injured in this incident.

Earlier, on 25 December 2024, Embraer ERJ-190AR of Azerbaijan Airlines crashed near Aktau Airport in Kazakhstan, in which 38 people were killed. This plane was flying to Grozny from Baku. It had to be diverted due to technical problems and bad weather. After several attempts to land at Grozny Airport, the plane crashed into the ground near Aktau Airport. There were 67 passengers in it. It was said by the airlines that this accident happened due to external interference.

10 killed in Brazil plane crash

On December 22, ten members of a family died when a private plane crashed in the city of Gramado in southern Brazil. Brazilian businessman Luiz Claudio Galeazzi, who was flying this plane, died in the accident along with his wife, three daughters and other relatives. According to the report of Hindustan Times, at the time of landing, the plane collided with the chimney, house and shop of this building. Local officials said that 17 people present on the ground at that place were injured in this incident.

A Britten-Norman BN-2B-26 Islander, operated by North Coast Aviation, crashed in Papua New Guinea on 22 December, killing all five on board. This aircraft was on a charter flight from Vasu Airport to Lae-Nadzab. The next day the wreckage of this plane was found, but no one survived. The investigation into this incident is still going on.

Plane collides with fence while landing in Argentina

A Bombardier BD-100-1A10 Challenger 300 crashes near San Fernando Airport, Argentina, killing both pilots. The plane was flying from Punta del Este Airport to San Fernando. After landing, the plane overshot the runway and collided with the fence, causing the plane to catch fire. The left side of the plane broke apart and the pilots died in the fire.

Plane collides with building near Honolulu Airport

The Kamaka Air Cessna 208 Caravan flight, operated by Kamaka Air LLC, crashed near Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, killing both pilots. According to ATC communications, the aircraft lost control soon after takeoff and crashed into a building. It is being said that this incident happened during training.
