As concert culture grows in India, attending a show and flaunting it on social media has become a trend. Many either struggle to secure tickets or can’t afford due to the high prices. To help people avoid feeling left out, a group of anonymous individuals has started a clever business called Get Your Flex. They create fake profiles, either as a boy or girl and charge them to get tagged in social media posts, making it look like they are at the concert enjoying the event. Recently, a content creator shared her experience of trying this service as part of a social experiment. Despite finding the idea unsettling, she admitted that she was impressed.

The content creator says, “So, you guys saw that account selling fake concert videos to people to flex on your social media feed. Well, I bought one. Not to show off, of course, but as a social experiment, but also just to see, I was curious how it works. So basically, they have fake accounts, that are private but have like a pretty person’s picture. You can pick a boy or girl account. They ask you which city you’re in and they’ll be like, what kind of stuff you want. Do you want a concert, do you want a soft launch picture in a cool cafe or aesthetic-looking restaurant? I have to say I’m kind of impressed with their service like they were nice, and whoever runs the account was quick.”

Referring to an article, she explained how, in the future, only wealthy people might be able to experience things in person, while others just experience them digitally. Although she felt the concept was “dystopian” but claimed if there’s demand, someone will step in to provide such services. After following the fake account that created the posts for her, she could see the type of stories created for other clients.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Nice way to scam wannabe rich people who crave a luxurious lifestyle.”

Another shared, “FOMO among Gen Z sells crazy.”

“Cannot believe there’s soft launch as a service now,” a comment read.

An individual shared, “Can’t blame them as well, because ‘Sadly’ the effects of social media on people, especially this generation is too much.”

One more added, “Overall, going to be great for society in the long run. People will start to doubt the authenticity of the show-off posts which in turn will end up hurting the credibility of actual show-off posts! We may start to see a beginning of an end to show off culture.”

Since the content creator shared the video on X, it has garnered over 4 Lakh views.
