Holiday 2025: Complete list of holidays is here, read how many days schools, offices and banks will remain closed


Holiday List 2025: The government of Uttar Pradesh has released the list of holidays for schools and offices in the year 2025. These include 24 public holidays and 31 restricted holidays. In the year 2025, 14 out of 24 general holidays are falling on Saturday and Sunday. It has also been made clear in the official notice that due to 14 holidays falling on Saturday and Sunday, no additional holiday benefit will be given to the government employees. List of General Holidays

  • 26 January- Republic Day (Saturday)
  • 29 March – Holi (Saturday)
  • 14 April – Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti (Monday)
  • 1 May – Labor Day (Thursday)
  • August 15 – Independence Day (Friday)
  • 22 August – Eid-ul-Azha (Friday)
  • 2 October – Gandhi Jayanti (Thursday)
  • 23 October – Dussehra (Thursday)
  • 12 November – Diwali (Wednesday)
  • 13 November – Govardhan Puja (Thursday)
  • 14 November – Children’s Day (Friday)
  • 25 December – Christmas (Thursday)
  • 31 December – New Year’s Eve (Wednesday)

Restricted Holidays

The government has also mentioned 31 banned holidays in the list. These are optional, that is, offices or schools can choose on their own whether they want to celebrate this day as a holiday or not. These are those holidays which remind us of various cultural, historical and religious events.

  • 17 September – Ganesh Chaturthi (Wednesday)
  • 5 October – Vijayadashami (Sunday)
  • 21 October – Karva Chauth (Tuesday)
  • 4 November – Karva Chauth (Tuesday)
  • 28 November – Eid-e-Milad (Thursday)
  • 18 December – Geeta Jayanti (Wednesday)
  • 20 December – Eid-e-Milad (Friday)
  • 25 December – Christmas (Thursday)
