The Internet is flooded with numerous heart-melting videos of people helping disabled individuals. But a section of society has contrary views on persons suffering from any condition or disability. The case in point is a video that has caught the Internet’s attention lately. Why? The clip shows a man calling out a school-boy for his views on disability alleging that the parents are responsible for not instilling more values in their children. The man in the video is named Manoj Kumar and he is a para-athlete, as his Instagram bio says.
“Schools can teach you how to excel in exams or surpass others by pushing them back but becoming a good human being is shaped by your upbringing. This is instilled by your home and family. My intention is not to demean this child but to convey that attending an expensive school does not guarantee that you will become a good person,” wrote the user along with the video.
In the clip, Manoj is first seen enquiring about the kid about his name, school, parents and the residential area. As he highlights his views on Gen Z’s thoughts, a few school students in the background are heard giggling.
Since being shared, the clip has garnered many reactions, with a majority of people praising the man for shedding light on an important issue. A user wrote, “True, these kids need to be taught a good lesson. Isliye strict parenting bahut jaruri hai (that is what strict parenting is required).” Another chimed in saying, “This is not the fault of bad parenting, it is the fault of social trends.”
However, a few also had polarising views on the video as they criticised the man for not showing compassion towards kids. One of the netizens pointed out, “As an adult, you should at least show some compassion towards kids. You said you didn’t want to humiliate the kid, but that’s exactly what you’re doing. This kid will always look down on other disabled people with even more hatred because of the humiliation that you made him feel by filming him. You should take down this reel.”
Responding to the negative comments that came his way, Manoj Kumar posted an additional comment wherein he asked people to stop commenting on him.
