Holly LaFavers, a mother based in Kentucky, United States, shocked the internet when she revealed her kid had ordered 70,000 lollipops worth Rs 3.3 lakh online. LaFavers’ eight-year-old son, Liam, went on a lollipop ordering spree and purchased 70,000 Dum-Dum suckers on Amazon. The woman said she attempted to cancel the order, but it was too late, as 22 large cases of the lollipop arrived at her residence.

The child’s fun day out shopping for his favourite lollipop proved to be a major headache for the mother, who revealed she nearly “fainted” upon seeing a charge of approximately $4,000 (around Rs 3.3 lakh) in her bank account. Making her annoyance worse was the arrival of eight more cases at their doorsteps. It took a trip to the post office for LaFavers to intercept and return those packages.

“When I saw what the number was, I just about fainted,” the woman wrote in her viral Facebook post. “I contacted Amazon as soon as I realized what had happened. They originally told me to reject the delivery and they would refund my money. The driver never knocked or rang the doorbell so now they will not take them back.”

Getting the money back was not at all easy for LaFavers since the order had been delivered. But after contacting her bank and even talking to a few media outlets, she got a refund. LaFavers thanked the users on the internet for offering their support, with many promising to purchase the cases to ensure she gets her money back.

“After a long day of working with the bank and talking to a few news stations, Amazon called and they are refunding my money!!! THANK YOU to everyone that offered to buy a box to help us. I will be happy to get you what you ‘ordered’ or donate them to a charity of your choice. Please dm me your preference,” the woman wrote.

LaFavers also said she is now going to keep a good check on her child’s online activities and is updating the settings on her mobile phone to prevent any such incident.
