Following the collapse of a six-storey building that led to the tragic demise of 8 residents on October 22, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is gearing up to survey and demolish unauthorised buildings across the city, starting October 28. One of the first targets is a five-storey building located in Nanjappa Garden, Babusapalya, Hennur. The said building is built on 250 sq ft (10 feet wide and 25 feet long) of land and is termed illegal by the authorities.

After being shared, pictures of the six-storey building went viral, bringing out the sarcastic side of many users. Some compared the building to the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, while the rest hailed the architect’s talent for creating this marvel. Several users criticised the owner and engineer for breaking the rules and constructing the huge building for their greed.

A user noted, “Burj Khalifa ultra pro max. This building should be preserved instead of being demolished.”

Another added, “Forget BBMP for a minute, that match box building should’ve given nightmares to all neighbors and passersby, how even were they all silent?”

An individual chimed in, “Wow! What an amazing building. Architectural masterpiece!”
