In this agreement brokered by Qatar and the United States, Israeli hostages are to be released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. Under this agreement, Israel will release 737 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for 33 hostages.

Hezbollah congratulated Palestinians

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassim on Saturday (January 18, 2025) congratulated Palestinians on the Gaza ceasefire agreement, saying it proved the “firmness of resistance” against Israel. “This deal, which is similar to the one proposed in May 2024, proves the determination of the resistance groups, who achieved what they wanted, while Israel did not achieve what it wanted,” Naim Qasim said in a speech. He wanted.”

What did the Israeli army say?

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) said in a statement that it is ready for a ceasefire and hostage agreement with Hamas, which was approved overnight by the government and is due to start tomorrow. “The agreement will take effect at 08:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, and as part of it, IDF troops will implement operational procedures in the area in accordance with the established agreements,” the army said.

The statement further said, “The IDF is preparing to receive the hostages after their release from Hamas captivity and is working to provide them with appropriate physical and psychological support, paying careful attention to every detail. Agreements “And with our commitment to return all hostages home, the IDF will continue to work to ensure the safety of all Israeli citizens, especially the communities near the Gaza Strip.”
