Brics Summit 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Emphasizing the improvement in major global bodies, on Sunday, said that ‘Global South’ has often fallen victim to “double standards” and nations who have made a major contributor to the world economy do not find a place on the platform. In his address on reforms in global rule, PM Modi, especially emphasizing the improvement in United Nations Security Council, World Trade Organization and major financial bodies, said that the current realities of the world should be reflected in them.
He said, “In the era of AI (artificial intelligence), where technology develops every week, it is unacceptable for global institutions to run without improvement for 80 years. You cannot run the 21st century software on the 20th century typewriters. ”He said that without ‘Global South’, these institutions look like mobile phones that have ‘SIM card’ inside, but there is no network.
Top leaders of BRICS talk about the challenges faced by the world
On the first day of the group’s two-day annual summit in Brazil’s seaside city, top leaders of BRICS discussed various challenges present before the world. Chinese President Xi Chinfing and her Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin did not attend the summit. The Iranian President Masood Pipeshkian and Egyptian President Abdul-Fatah al-Sisi also did not attend the conference.
The BRICS has emerged as an impressive group as it brings 11 major emerging economies in the world together, which represents about 49.5 percent of the global population, about 40 percent of the global GDP and about 26 percent of the global trade. Prime Minister Modi said, “Global South has often been a victim of double standards. Whether it is the issue of development, a matter of issues related to distribution or safety of resources.
Prime Minister Modi expressed regret on this
In his address in the first session, the Prime Minister regretted that ‘Global South’ has often received nothing but assurance on issues like climate finance, sustainable development and access to technology. The Prime Minister said that in the global institutions built in the 20th century, two-thirds of humanity has not received proper representation. He said, “The countries which have a major contributor to today’s global economy have not been given a place on the platform for the decision -making.” He further said, “It is not just a question of representation, but also a question of credibility and effectiveness.”
PM Modi said this big thing
The Prime Minister said that global institutions are unable to function properly or face the challenges of the 21st century. ‘Global South’ means those countries which are considered less developed in terms of technology and social development. These countries are mainly located in the southern hemisphere. This includes countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
He said, “Whether it is the struggles on the world, an epidemic, economic crisis or cyber or emerging challenges in space, these institutions have failed to present solutions.”
How did the annual BRICS summit begin?
The annual BRICS summit began with the leaders of the group member countries with a collective photograph, followed by Brazilian President Luiz Inecio Lula de Silva. PM Modi said that today the world needs a new multi -polar and inclusive system and it should start with extensive reforms in global institutions.
He said, “Improvement should not only be symbolic, but their real effect should also be seen. There should be a change in the posts of governance, franchise and leadership. ”The Prime Minister argued that the challenges of the countries of ‘Global South’ should be given priority in policy-making. He said that the expansion of BRICS is proof that it is an organization that has the ability to change itself according to time.
The Prime Minister said, “Now we will have to show the same will for improving institutions like United Nations Security Council, World Trade Organization (WTO) and multilateral development banks.” He said, “In the era of artificial intelligence (AI), where technology is upgraded every week, no global organization is not even updated in 80 years.” Working in the interest of is considered his duty. “PM Modi said,” We are fully committed to making creative contribution on all subjects in association with BRICS countries. “
