Sixteen years of marriage, four children, and then, one day, it all ended suddenly. This shocking story would leave anyone bewildered. A Chinese man decided to divorce his wife after discovering a years-old secret that shattered his happiness. The case became a topic of discussion across the country.
What Was The Secret?
This story begins in December 2007 when a Chinese man, Chen Zhixian, married a woman named Yu Hua. Yu was eight years younger than him and appeared to be a simple woman. Chen’s parents had been pressuring him to marry soon, so he went ahead without much thought. A few days after the wedding, Yu announced she was pregnant. Chen was so overwhelmed with the joy of becoming a father that he did not even question how she could conceive so quickly. Soon, their first daughter was born.
Chen, a truck driver, was often away from home due to long-distance travel, rarely returning to his house in Dexing, Jiangxi province.
Time passed, and Yu gave birth to a second daughter. Chen believed she was his child. However, in 2019, when Yu revealed she was pregnant for the third time, doubt crept into Chen’s mind for the first time. He had been away when the child was conceived. When he confronted Yu, she insisted the child was his. Chen accepted her word, and their third daughter was born. But the real shock came in November 2022 when Chen discovered that Yu was having an affair with a man named Wu. Not only that, but Yu had given birth to a fourth daughter in a hospital in Shangrao city.
Suspicious, Chen went to the hospital and found that his name and signature on the release form had been forged. His doubts turned into certainty. He filed for divorce and ordered DNA tests for all three daughters.
The results exposed the truth about his wife’s infidelity. None of the three daughters he had raised for 16 years were his. Heartbroken, Chen approached the court. He sought custody of his daughters and compensation for emotional distress.
However, Yu retaliated by accusing Chen of domestic violence. Chen admitted to a dispute with his mother-in-law over the matter. The court delivered its verdict on December 29, 2023.
Chen was granted custody of his two elder daughters, while Yu was ordered to forgo property claims and pay alimony each month. Chen stated that Yu’s betrayal and the revelation about his daughters had shattered him. Now, he wants to leave everything behind and start anew.
