
According to reports, the company is planning to expel about 2 percent of the employees, ie more than 12,000 people from its global workforce. This is believed to be the biggest pruning ever.

Many major reasons have come out behind this decision of TCS. International recession, cuts in expenses from clients and rapidly changing technology are the main reason for this. However, it has not been directly connected to AI (Artificial Intelligence).

Most of this retrenchment is going to fall on mid-level and senior level employees. Apart from this, employees who have not been on any project for a long time i.e. ‘bench’ are also in danger.

The company is now preparing its team to work in a new way. TCS is now moving towards becoming a “Future-Reddy” company. The company is emphasizing on AI, Cloud and Digital Technology.

Under this, the company has so far taught basic AI training to about 5.5 lakh employees and advance AI skills to more than one lakh people. But many senior employees could not mold themselves with this change, so they can be shown the way out.
